NobleDog: Feature Rescue Rottweiler

Sarah-Hippo would like to tie a big bow around herself and plop herself under someone's Christmas Tree, Hannukah Bush, Kwanza Shrub, or wherever else presents can be found this holiday season. Her name was Sarah Bear when we picked her up, but considering she's about 15-20 lbs overweight, we've dubbed her, "Sarah-Hippo".

Sarah's family got her when she was a puppy. They just re-carpeted their house and don't want to deal with dog hair, mud, etc on the new carpet. . . and they "just don't have time for her anymore", so they took her into a local veterinarian's office to have her euthanized. She will be 7 years old in January.

Sarah is ABSOLUTELY DARLING!!! In spite of her excessive weight, she's very spunky, playful, loves to go for walks or romp through the pasture, and is in surprisingly good health. She has basic obedience, walks well on a leash, is housebroken, gets along with most dogs . . . both large and small, hasn't paid much attention to our cats so far, is extremely friendly, and would really like to be part of somebody's family! From what the previous owner said, she has been around their grandchildren, but we will still be testing her with children sometime within the next week. I have seen no signs of resource guarding. In fact, she thought it was a very fun game when I kept slipping hotdogs and chicken strips into her bowl while she was eating. She has a great sense of humor, an easy smile, and really wants to please. She is spayed and is well liked by the two veterinarians who've treated her through the years.

She is a very pretty girl. She reminds me a few "Tony" daughters I know. She has a pretty face, nice blocky head. . . yet, feminine, dark coloring, compact with strong bone, lovely-tight-well-knuckled feet. . .in spite of her long nails, short back, nice croup, and who knows what the topline will actually look like once the weight comes off. For someone who wants a pretty pet that is already trained and socialized, Sarah would be ideal. The perfect home will want to exercise her every day to get/keep the weight down.
